Build 5 Status update + New 'Chase' design.


Hi all, gonna keep this devlog nice and short for once, just to keep people in the know.

This month hasn't been all too great for me, and I've been really overworking myself these past few months, so I've been taking this month off and as such there'll be no build this month. (and it's possible there won't be one next month either.) 

I have however been spending some time looking through the game - after last month I've kind of realised this trend of going back and redoing things obsessively isn't healthy at all and reviewing everything for Chase has opened up more holes than I initially thought - So I want to make sure that everything is truly up to par before I continue with writing the story out. This does mean a change in plans from my original aim to get Stephen's ch2 done first, but game development is unfortunately never a smooth process. 

The plans for the revised Chase storyline are coming along nicely, about 80~90% done with the notes for ch1, and the good news is that, while still in a different direction, the new outline actually keeps a lot of the same themes as the old iteration.

There may be one drastic change that'll need to be made to the pacing of the chapter as a whole, but I'll talk a bit more about it at a later date.

I do have something else to share. And that is a WIP sprite for the new appearance for ‘Chase.’

Initial planning had him as a Polar Bear, he ended up being swapped to a Hyena mid development. I wanted to try and keep the spirit of ‘Chase’ design intact while making him a bit more unique amongst the cast, and I’d like to think I achieved that fairly well. I took some elements from Archie's new sprite and incorporated them for this new Chase sprite, as I felt they would have worked really well for him.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to finish it or work on art in general this month, but I aim to get more art done for December! (Hopefully, I know my planning is a mess.)
