April Status Update.

Hi all, it is now April 4th, which means it is time for yet another devlog.

This devlog is a little late, I had initially envisioned an April 2nd release date, but due to some unexpected technical issues that made me unable to use my PC. But, that has been resolved now, so let's get on with it.

For PBS: Nothing really to say. I am still not ready to work on it and that won't be changing soon, as pretty much all of my current commitments are on Blood in the water at the moment, so I'm going to skip over this.
(For anyone who didn't read or missed the last devlog: BITW is going to be a much more smaller scope, linear vn set in the same world as PBS, focusing on Noland, Pierce and Theodore with appearances from other members of the cast as well as some new ones.)

Now onto Blood in the Water, which I have much more exciting news to share!

Firstly, the writing! Oh boy.

My original plan was to get the entire first chapter out in the first build: the issue, however… Is that the unedited script for chapter is currently at 90k words long. That is to say, it's huge. I may have overdid myself a little bit.

I'm not so sure how I'll sort this out yet, I went into this expecting the first build to be the largest, but I may have underestimated how large it'll be. Whether or not I'll release it all at once or split it into 2 is yet to be decided upon.

The good news is that the draft is done for the most part, and editing will begin shortly.

I am still aiming for an April release, but don't be surprised if it gets pushed back a bit, I'd rather not rush out an unfinished build. First impressions are important and I'm trying to avoid making the mistakes I made before.

Art wise: I have a massively redone sprite for Noland to share. My main focus for this was to really work on improving my anatomy, particularly around the waist area, which usually felt too wide before. I also wanted to update his design to better reflect his personality. I’d like to think I did a pretty good job with this sprite, and hopefully won't necessitate any further revisions. The rest of the cast will follow with similar revisions before the game launches, hopefully.

For general housekeeping, most of the backgrounds/music/ui are finished and ready to go.

The last thing to share is that progress on the itch page has started. While it's still not quite ready to be made public yet, expect to see it sometime this month.

And that is all! It is possible that the next devlog will be a bit sooner than usual depending on how development pans out.

Otherwise, If you have any questions or just want to chat, message me @final_bear or join the discord server (Which is still up), and farewell!
