March Status Update + Huge announcement.


Hello all, it's the 2nd of March, which means yet another devlog!

I have a huge announcement to make this time, but I'll get to that in a bit.

This has been a very busy month and all in all I didn't really have much time to work on PBS, just some more refining. Rest assured that the game isn't dead still. Progress has been slow but you have to understand that when working on something like this progress WILL be slow sometimes. Again, if I'm not ready to start full production on it I'm not going to force myself until I'm ready.

That isn't to say I've been sitting around doing nothing though, while PBS hasn't been worked on much. I've been hard at work on something related to PBS.

As I mentioned before, PBS has been going through many revisions, some of these revisions being the removal of certain characters and plot elements to help simplify the story and lighten my workload.

I didn't want to fully scrap these ideas however, and all in all I feel I'm still not prepared to work on something as big scale as PBS yet: which is why I'm excited to announce a new pbs-related side project I'm working on that is tentatively known as ‘Blood in the Water’.

This project will mainly serve as a short-scope vn to put these scrapped ideas to use on something that will be begun and finished in a few builds (3-4 at most, with an expected dev time of maybe 5 months?) and to help hone my skills a bit before I see if I can go back into working on PBS full time. And to maybe experiment with this format to see if I keep doing this kind of thing in the future.

I'll reserve the finer details for this vn for a later date, but for now know that it'll mainly focus on Noland and Pierce and their relationship that I won't be able to explore in PBS anymore, as well as focusing a ton onTheodore. 

I’ve attached all of their updated sprites above: I hope people like them, I personally thought they came out well.

(It'll also feature other characters like Raphael and Darren from PBS with much less prominent roles.)

Also attached the sprite for a brand new character: meet Mordecai. He'll be making his debut in this vn and will be the only brand new character that is planned to appear in it. Again, I'll leave out any details on what he's like until the actual release. 

And lastly, a WIP for the icon for the game. Stylistically very similar to PBS, because visual consistency is pretty cool, I think.

I can confidently say that progress for this vn is well on its way, pretty much all of the initial sprites for this vn are DONE and planning and writing is going smoothly, with the word count at already ~25k.  

I expect the first build will be the longest, with my aim to have the first build ready to release during April. (Which is earlier than I initially wanted to get the revised PBS build 1 done.) So stay tuned for that. As this vn is related to PBS, I'll try and post regular updates here until it is time to publicly create a page for it. In which case I'll then move all of this onto its own dedicated page.

This does mean PBS proper will be on the backburner for a bit, but I think this is the best way forward atm. I hope you understand.
