One Year Anni Status Update.


Hello all, today is officially the one year anni since I released the first build of PBS. As you all know, PBS has been in a bit of a hiatus for a while now, partially in part because I am pouring all of my time into the PBS adjacent project, Blood in the Water (Which, if you haven’t played yet, you should.) and also in parts because I am still figuring out what I want from the project in terms of scope and direction.

Now, last time I talked about this, I had proposed a few changes to help with this: the removal of one of the routes, reducing the amount of characters and less focus on slice of life content.

I think working on Blood in the Water has made me realise that kinetic novels are definitely more my speed, Multiroute projects inherently require much more commitment than a kinetic one, and as such make for MUCH better projects once you know what you're doing fully. 

So, does this mean I'm abandoning PBS? The answer is still no. However, what this does mean is that I'll most likely be converting PBS into a linear VN focused primarily on Eric and Raphael's route, with elements from Stephen's route merged in there due to his route being inherently non-romantic in nature. 

Old PBS was objectively too ambitious, so I'll be toning it down another notch.

Chase well… The decision to put the VN on Hiatus was largely because of him and honestly I'd rather save anything related to him for a separate project in the future where I won't have to half-assedly integrate him into the plot.

I still haven't entirely figured the rest of this out yet, however, and I don't think I will until BITW is done.

I have been slowly working on artwork for the cast during my downtime. So I at least have a whole bunch of new art to share, so I will get to that, right now:

Stephen is a big one, his design has always been a bit of a pain to get right… I could never quite get it on lock down. So, I decided to give a few other ideas for his character a go and after a very rough week of scrapping ideas and nonsense… I ended up landing on this mechanic sort of design for him. His role or character won't be changing at all.

Next is a WIP sprite for Orlando. Due to an art block I was having, I couldn't get it done in time for this devlog, but I hope you can still appreciate the WIP. I intend for him to pseudo Replace Chase's role in the plot.

 Lastly, new sprites for Lloyd and Morten. Nothing fancy here, they just look better. Lloyd had a bit of a slutiness update to better fit his aesthetic more... And Morten's isn't fully finished yet.
